Cecilia R. Jones, 82, Corydon, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Harrison Health and Rehabilitation Centre. Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Schmelz Messmer.
She was a former employee of Seinshimers in New Albany, the old bag plant in Charlestown, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary 3281.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Jones of Leavenworth; three sons, Gregory Jones of Mitchell, Daniel Jones of Corydon and Timothy Jones of Dallas; three daughters, Joyce Korte of Corydon, Martha Blaney of Morocco, Ind., and Doris Jones of Cincinnati; two sisters, Barbara Beard of Columbus and Clara Pruitt of Pekin; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation: Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 6, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon followed by burial in the church cemetery. Officiant: Father Dan Atkins.
