Bettie Joyce Hayes Morgan, age 82, of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Morgan was born in Asheboro, NC on August 30, 1933 to Walter Irwin and Elizabeth Jane Davis Hayes. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Morgan and brothers, Keith and John Hayes. Bettie was a world traveler. She was a member of the American Women's Club in six countries. She volunteered at orphanages in Calí, Colombia. Bettie was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Sewing Guild of Stan Hywet in Akron, OH and a member of the American Church of Lima, Peru. Bettie was the former co-owner of Elizabeth Hayes Dolls. She was a founding member of the Square Dance Club in Manila, Philippines. Bettie was an avid reader, loved to sew, and loved creating costumes for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bettie really enjoyed entertaining and family activities.

She is survived by her children, Robert Morgan, Jr. and wife Kathy of Tehachapi, CA, Ed Morgan and wife Linda of Asheboro, NC, Ted Morgan of Scottsdale, AZ, Jennifer Morgan of Asheboro, NC, and Col. Jeff Morgan and wife Laura of Pinehurst, NC; grandchildren, Rob III, Melanie, Sarah, Emily, Bethany, Michael; Christina, Maggie-Grace, Whit, Tara, Will, and David; great grandchildren, Audra, Roman, Micah, Annaliese, and Eric; sister, Peggy Coble of Franklinville, NC; and brother, Hilton Hayes and wife Elizabeth of Asheboro, NC.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George W. Roberson and Chaplin Tim Pheagin officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
