Clarence Ray Haumont died east of Broken Bow from tragic farm machinery accident

Clarence Ray Haumont, the son of Mr and Mrs Lee Haumont of east of Broken Bow was born July 3, 1944and he departed this life on Saturday evening August 12, 1967 at the age of 23 years 1 month and 9 days. Clarence was an active and interested member of 4-H for 14 years and had the honor of being chosen 4-H King in 1962. He participated in many activities and enjoyed them all, He was a graduate of Broken Bow Nebraska High School in the Class of 1962 and he attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska where he had planned for a degree in psychology. On January 30, 1966 he was married at Ely, Nevada to Miss Joan Whisler of Elwood, NE . In May of that year they moved to the family farm east of Broken Bow, where he farmed and also continued his education. Clarence is survived by his wife Joan Haumont, by their little daughter, Brenda Jo Haumont, by his parents Mr and Mrs Lee Haumont and by his brothers Lee Haumont, Jr. and Glen Haumont and one sister , Carol Haumont and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the New Evangelical United Bethren Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska on August 15 with the Rev. Joe Bennett pastor of that church and Rev Roy Peterson of Our Savior's Lutheran Church a friend of the Whisler family in charge of the memorial services. Several hundred people overflowed the church and fellowship hall. Interment was made and he was laid to rest at the French Table Cemetery north of Weissert on August 15.
