Maurice was a writer, reporter, and editor for many newspapers, including the L. A. Times and The Chicago Daily News. He was a well known "Pulp Fiction" author as well. He wrote several books on a wide variety of subjects.
He grew up in Canton IL and started as a newspaper reporter in Chicago. He traveled the world and spent a couple of years in Tahiti writing about the island life
for the Chicago Daily News. He met his wife DeFayna and love of his life in Chicago. After living in Florida, they moved out to California in the thirties.
He had a brief stint as a scriptwriter in Hollywood, CA before starting a couple of small newspapers in San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano, CA.They eventually settled in the Seal Beach and Belmont Shore beach communities. He retired from the L.A Times in 1965 and went on to work for the O.C. Register for another 10 years.
He was a wonderful Dad to his two daughters and the BEST Grandpa in the world to his 5 grandkids. He was an imaginative storyteller and always entertained us with art projects, electronics, and scientific experiments in his lab/studio/office/man cave. Missing him every day!
