We tend to think of our ancestors as perfect. The reality is they were people who could make bad choices then as can be done now. Hugh and Ruth became involved. Hugh and Betsy had a child in 1818. Hugh and Ruth had one in 1818 as well which was legitimized when they married following the passing of Betsy. In a time when husband and wives were laid to rest, side by side, all are buried apart which tells how their families judged them at the time. Now it is only a historical fact that does not need to be avoided.

Ruth is buried in a private section.
