Vicki A. Barker 94, passed away August 20 of incidents due to age.
Vicki was born to Polita Padilla and Ramos Silva on November 1, 1921 in Ignacio, Colorado. She was the youngest of nine children.
Vicki is survived by her daughter, Bonnie B. Dicks, her son-in-law, Richard M. Dicks, and many nieces and nephews, including Jerry Silva, Dave Silva, Shella Candeleria, Francine Archuleta and Gloria Strate. She was preceded in death by her husband David A. Barker, her son, David E. Barker and her parents and her eight siblings, Cordie, Sears, Susano, Mercedes, McLovia, Ursula, Pablo and Ruby.
After graduating high school in 1939, Vicki moved to Denver to attend business college. She loved to dance and during the war and she went out every night to dance. She met and married her husband in Denver ( he was her boss) and they married November 21, 1947. Later they moved to Lovelock, Nevada and finally to Salt Lake.
Vicki stayed at home to raise her children when they were young but went back to work when they were older. Vicki worked for the Department of Transportation as a secretary in the sixties and the seventies.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Wasatch Lawn at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing an hour before the service.
Many, many thanks to the Wentworth and Hospice for Utah who cared for Vicki during her last days. Their support and help was much appreciated.
