Parents are George Jones Bywater (1855-1899) and Jeannette Russell Yeates (1856-1936). Second oldest of five children.

Married Ann Etta Cowan, September 17, 1902 in Salt Lake, Utah. She died in 1914 of tuberculosis.

William died two year later of peritonitis caused by a gastric ulcer which ruptured.

William and Ann Etta had already buried two children in 1908: Harvey William and Ruth. Leah died later in 1916. That left Kenneth Russell (11) and Donald Yeates (6) orphans.


Obituary from Salt Lake Telegram, January 28, 1916:

At a local hospital, January 27, 1916, William J. Bywater, aged 36 years. Funeral services will be held at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Geanette Y. Bywater, 374 C Street, January 30, beginning at 12 o'clock. Interment city cemetery.
