Eleanor Bradford Lemon, age 101 years, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Mrs. Lemon was born in Ocean Springs in 1915 to Frederick Semmes Bradford and Letecia Carver Bradford, also lifelong residents of the Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Lemon graduated from Ocean Springs High School, now known as the Mary C. O'Keefe, in 1932, and married her second grade sweetheart, James Kirkpatrick "JK" Lemon, in September 1937, where she assisted Miss O'Keefe by sounding the recess siren returning students to class. She also delivered the Class Prophecy Speech during graduation. She was proud to be a Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher for 20 years at St. Paul United Methodist Church, a member of the PTA, room mother, Band Auxiliary President, and charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Her many civic activities included Kings Daughters charter member, The Ocean Springs Centennial Committee and 1699 Committee. She was a founding member of the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary and served as Treasurer for thirty years, accumulating over 11,000 hours of service. Eleanor was recognized as Jackson County Volunteer of the year in 1988 for United Way. She is proudly a member of the Mayflower Society, being a descendent of William Bradford. She worked as Secretary-Treasurer of Livewell Homes, Inc., and bookkeeper for Ocean Springs Realty.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Letecia Bradford; husband, J.K. Lemon; sisters, Elizabeth Bradford Milsted, Vertalee Bradford VanCleave, and Margaret Bradford Chastain; niece, Sandra VanCleave Garrard; and the son of the late Dr. Ray and Ann Wesson, Dave Wesson.

She is survived by her son, William Bradford Lemon (Terri); daughter, Diane Lemon Cuicchi (Anthony); daughter-in-law, Nancy Neyman Lemon; eight grandchildren, Margaret Kelly Lemon (Todd Simonse), Scott Bradford Lemon (Barbara), James "Jim" Kirkpatrick Lemon (Shari), Leslie Lemon Hunt (Jamey), Amy Suzanne Lemon, Susan Cuicchi Fears (Mark), Jennifer Cuicchi Larizza (Joe), and Laura Cuicchi Endt (Trey); fourteen great-grandchildren, Kyle David Simonse, Lauren Anne Simonse, Christine Lemon Woods (Chris), Cathryn Lemon Wineski (Daniel), Sara Katelyn Lemon, James Hunter Lemon, MacKenzie Elizabeth Hunt, Carter Bradford Hunt, Samuel James Hunt, Anna Diane Larizza, Anthony Joseph Larizza, Megan Eleanor Endt, Henry Joseph Endt, Luke Albert Endt; and one great great-grandchild, Charlie Daniel Wineski.

She is also survived by the other children of the late Dr. Ray and Ann Wesson, Ray Wesson Jr., Allison Wesson Pitts (Brian), and Jason Wesson and their children, Presley Wesson McNeill (Josh), Morgan Wesson, Kolbe Wesson, Trey Wesson, Raye Pitts, Carley Pitts and Reid Pitts.

She also leaves behind her beloved friend and niece, Joey Milsted Rice, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family proudly acknowledges and thanks James Cox and Gerry Oliver for their devoted friendship through the years, and to the following special friends and caregivers Judy and Tom Harrington, Don Bush, Fay Couch, Kay Benton, Michele McKee, Roxann Stokes, Janice Hall and Reverend Greg Barras.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to The Salvation Army, 3217 Nathan Hale Avenue, Pascagoula, MS 39581, St. Paul United Methodist Church, 800 Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564, and St. Michael's Catholic Church, 177 1st Street, Biloxi, MS 39530.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Downtown Campus of St. Paul United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe is in charge of arrangements.
