Gretna…..Danny David (Booney) Rowland, age 69 of 2512 Old Mine Road, Gretna passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 13, 2012 after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born December 9, 1942 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Bland David Rowland and Hazel Mayhew Rowland.
Booney attended Gretna High School and worked with the Virginia Department of Transportation for thirty-six years until his retirement at age 52.
He was a member of Piney Fork Baptist Church. Booney enjoyed camping, looking after his miniature horses and working in his yard.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Patricia Shields Rowland of the residence; his beloved dogs, Trixie and Buster; his great-nephew, Denton L. Cook of the residence who brought great joy to his life; and his sister, Edith Rowland Bowler of Gretna.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Shields Family Cemetery by Rev. Ernest G. Roebuck. The family will receive friends after the service at the Shields Family Home and other times will be at the residence, 2512 Old Mine Road, Gretna.
