Thomas Ray Coffey Jr. died at his home in Tryon, Okla., on Wedneday, June 23, 2010.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1936, in Shawnee to Thomas Ray Coffey and Edna Mae ‘Doke’ Poindexter Coffey. He attended school at the Oklahoma Military Academy, Claremore and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1954. He attended Oklahoma A&M College. Tom served in the US Army in the medical corps, serving in Germany 1958-59. He had a love for the outdoors, politics, people and music.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children, Tray Coffey and wife Teresa, Stillwater; Carrie Verrill and husband Gary of Norman; grandchildren, Lauren and Lily Coffey, Samantha and Kelsey Verrill; brothers, Dr. J. Walter Coffey and wife Diane, Stillwater; Dr. Robert P. Coffey and wife, Roseann, Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 2pm with Dr. Gale Izard, Texas, officiating. Reception will follow at the Resthaven Funeral Home Reception Center.
