Patricia Gayle Tison Sylvester (Nana), 81, of Waycross, GA. went home to be with The Lord early Friday morning in her home. Nana was surrounded by loved ones and made a very peaceful departure from this earth. She was born in Millwood, GA. on March 7, 1935. She was the oldest daughter of William Perry Tison and Olive Inez Tison.

Nana is preceded in death by both of her parents (Perry and Inez), her mother-in-law (Mabel Aldridge Sylvester Hinson), a brother ("Herbert" Walton Tison), and a grandson (Kenneth Martin Rios).

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Walter Kenneth Sylvester, by three children: Jeffrey Brian Thomason, Sherri Sylvester Rios, and Pam Sylvester Barbee and son-in-law, Jeffrey Lee "Jeff" Barbee. Patricia is also survived by a younger brother and sister, Ida "Annice" Tison Whitfield and James "Perry" Tison. Ken and Pat have seven grandchildren who have survived her: David Lee Barbee, Jeffrey Maxwell "Max" Barbee, Hampden "Hamp" Earl Thomason, Devon Jacob Rios, Alex James "AJ" Barbee, Sierra Elizabeth Rios, and Angela Patricia Rios.

Pat Sylvester was a long time member of Waycross Primitive Baptist Church, where she has faithfully attended for over twenty years. Nana was also a member of Waycross Garden Club, Waycross Women's Club and Emerson Park Homemakers Club. Nana worked for The Ware County Probate Court but retired at a young age to focus on her family.

Pat was an outstanding wife, mother, nana, and friend. She was incredibly family-orientated and loved every second spent with her children and grandchildren, though she did not limit herself to only family, for everywhere she went, she went with a brilliantly bright smile and lipstick. She met no stranger, was always polite to anyone she met and loved conversing with anyone about anything. Her warm personality flooded everyone's hearts and left her with numerous friends who loved her like family. She will be remembered for her ability to illuminate a room with her loving, infectious disposition and smile. She will be incredibly missed by friends and family but we are all consoled in knowing that she has joined her heavenly father and her passed loved ones in Heaven and rejoice at the fact that we will soon, one day, be with her again in a place not made with hands.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and support. Music Funeral Home will hold a viewing for Mrs. Sylvester on Saturday, August the 27th from 6-8 PM. Her funeral will be held at Music Funeral Home beginning at 2:30 PM on August 28th (graveside service will follow). Friends and Family who are unable to attend the viewing are encouraged to attend a viewing, held before funeral service, beginning at 1:30 PM on Sunday, August 28th. Nana is to be buried at Bennett's Cemetery in Millwood, GA.
