L. A. Denzer

Loren Allen Denzer of Valdosta, GA passed away at home on Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born on January 14, 1930 to the late Benjamin H. and Sarah Rebecca Denzer. Mr. Denzer joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and served for seven years He served in Inewetok when the first Hydrogen bomb was set off. Later in his military career, he was brought to Moody Air Force Base as an Air Traffic Controller to open the first tower on the base. Mr. Denzer was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. He founded Denzer Tree Surgeons in 1962, and it has operated strongly for the past 54 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mr. Denzer was commonly known as Granddaddy to everyone except his grandchildren, who called him Grand. Mr. Denzer was preceded in death by four sisters and seven brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Freda S. Denzer, of Valdosta, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon (Jerry) Holland, of Valdosta, GA; a daughter, Robin Evans, of Valdosta, GA; a son, Allen Denzer, of Atlanta, GA; a stepdaughter, Vickie Amendola, of Valdosta, GA; six grandchildren, John Lee (Amanda) Ingram of Valdosta, GA, Whitney Ingram of Smyrna, GA, Jason (Candice) Ingram of Valdosta, GA, Thomas (Daphne) Hall of Goldsboro, NC, Andrea (Shelby) Warren of Morven, GA, Krysta (Dan) Schneider of Montreat, NC; eleven great grandchildren; and his best friend and constant companion, Mr. B.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Guardian Bank in care of the Artificial Reef Fund for L. A. Denzer.
