Mark J. Pierce, age 68, of Bellevue passed away Wednesday, August 24. He was born on December 11, 1947 in Battle Creek to Leonard and Barbara (Barney) Pierce. Mark grew up in the Bellevue area, graduated from Bellevue High School in 1966, attended Kellogg Community College, and completed a welding course at Lincoln Electric in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mark served in the United States Army from September 1967 to April 1969. After his military career, Mark worked for Clark Equipment Company in Battle Creek. When Clark left the area, he worked for Cheney Limestone Company in Bellevue, and the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, retiring in 2008. Mark also operated a pie business with his mother for several years.

Mark was married on July 17, 1970 in Bellevue, MI. They recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.

He enjoyed the hobbies of gardening, collecting stamps, feeding and watching birds, collecting stones and sea glass with his grandchildren, reading, and watching movies. Mark was a member of the VFW Post 2406 in Charlotte, MI.

Mark is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, five grandchildren, a sister and a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo.
