DAVID R. MILLER Age 67, of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. He was born October 13, 1937, in Gary, Indiana to the late Russell and Dorthea (Hufton) Miller and was an area resident most of his life. David was employed by Dow Chemical as a construction assistant supervisor, retiring in 1985. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who adored his family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper who will be greatly missed. David was a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran; a member of Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623; the Porter County Conservation Club and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He is survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Doreen (nee Couch); daughter, Debra (Tom) Lightfoot of Burns Harbor; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas, Amanda, Alayna and Laura; brother, Dean A. Miller of Culver, IN; sister, Diana (late Robert) Poffinbarger of Valparaiso. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Ann Miller. Funeral services Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from the Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, Pastor Ken Miller of the Portage Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Cremation Calvary Crematory. Visitation Friday, February 4, 2005 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel. 962-1606.
