She was a 1984 graduate of South Range High School. Sarah received a Rodeo Scholarship to Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas, and Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. She trained and raced Thoroughbred and Quarter horses. She was instrumental in acquiring rodeo scholarships for young people and was a member of the National High School Rodeo Association, Little Britches Rodeo Association, American Rodeo Association, and Women’s Pro Rodeo Association. She was the Outrider at Mountaineer Park during the West Virginia Derby for several years.
Survivors include her parents, Carroll and Connie Rowe of Salem; and a brother, Charlie Rowe of Lisbon.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Fryer.
Calling hours will be held Monday, August 29, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
