Nadia Tarasoff Wright - 94, passed away on the morning of Sunday, August 21, 2016 in Gardnerville, Nevada. She was born on June 27, 1922 in New York, and resided there until after graduating High School from the Professional Children's School in New York in 1940. Nadia was the daughter of Ivan Tarasoff and Margit Olsen who were both Ballet Teachers.

In 1940 Nadia married Wayne D. Wright a horse jockey who was inducted into the Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2016. Wayne won the Kentucky Derby in 1942, the Preakness in 1945, and the Belmont in 1934. In 1956 they retired from horse racing and took up ranching in Smith Valley, Nevada. Nadia loved her yard where flowers could be seen blooming from spring to fall.

Nadia is preceded in death by her son Harold C. Wright, sister Margaret Burns, and husband Wayne. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy (Frank) Oakes, and sons Danny (Mary) Wright, and Kenneth A. Wright, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Smith Valley United Church, 44 Rivers Road in Smith, Nevada at 11:00 am on August 30, 2016. In lieu of flowers the family requests to please donate in Nadia's name to the Smith Valley United Church.
