Gil attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY and graduated in 1966. His Academic record included Scholastic Star, Varsity Club, Dance Committee, Glee Club, Eagle Scout Society, Ring Dance Committee, Baseball, Intramurals.
Upon graduation he became a Navigator in the U.S. Merchant Marine, sailing on S.S. Del Santos (The Delta Steamship Company), S.S. Christopher Lykes, S.S. Shirley Lykes, S.S. Ashley Lykes, S.S. Marjorie Lykes (The Lykes Brothers Steamship Company). Some of his voyages included Algeria, Argentina, Britain, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Thailand, Uruguay and he navigated one of the first ships that sailed into Vietnamese waters during the war.
Gil then became a Secret Service Agent and was known to tell stories of the time he spent with Henry Kissinger in Egypt as part of his protection detail.
His job then brought him to Rhode Island where he worked for many years in law enforcement, while in Rhode Island he was assigned to the Organized Crime Division.
Gil passed the Bar in 1989 and became a Labor Law Attorney practicing in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Gil had an office in Springfield, Massachusetts for many years.
For 16 years (1998-retirement in 2013) Gil was the Executive Director of the CIAWMI, he sat on several Boards during his years of service and made many friends along the way. There wasn't anything he didn't know, everyone would ask his advice on all things, knowing they would always get the best answers.
Gil dearly loved his New Hampshire lake house and spent as much time as he could there.
Gil's joy was raising alpacas with his wife of 48 years, Janet.
They had three daughters, Karin, Kristen and Bethany and one son, Jefferey.
He was a good man, humble, kind and thoughtful and will be missed by all that knew him.
