Violet Constance Rotto Becker, 84, of Lower Burrell died Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002) in Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh.

Born June 15, 1918, in Tarentum, she was a life-long resident of the Valley.

She worked in the fitting room of Ames Department Store, Lower Burrell, and for the former Hills Department Store.

Mrs. Becker was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, and the Ladies of the Moose and the Eagles Auxiliary, both of New Kensington.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Matthew A. Becker; two sons, the Rev. Robert (Ruth) Becker of Ohio and Ronald Becker of Lancaster; three daughters, Mrs. Rosemary (Robert) Remo of New Kensington, Mrs. Nancy (Thomas) Dunn of Lower Burrell and Shirley Becker of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Hazel) Rotto Sr. of Lower Burrell; and two sisters, Gloria Prager of Creighton, East Deer, and Margaret Kujawa of Connellsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pauline Whiteley Rotto; a brother, Thomas Rotto; and three sisters, Marie Maritto, Josephine Migliori and Virginia Rotto.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Margaret Mary Church, Lower Burrell, with the Rev. James Gaston officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
