Doris moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1950 with her sister and brother-in-law, where she met her husband, George Griffith. Doris worked in the medical field until she raised her children, living in Hayward, CA.
Doris and her husband (George) retired to Lodi in 1989, where she enjoyed being near family, and she was active in the Lodi Arts Commission, a water exercise class, and oil painting. Doris volunteered in the Hayward area at the local hospitals, delivering baby photos to new mothers for several years. She later volunteered in a reading program for the Girls and Boys Club in Napa.
Doris is survived by one daughter, one son, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Doris’s physical remains will be placed at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Any donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or St. Jude Children’s Foundation, or of your choosing. A private “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016, in Lodi.
