In her youth, she attended the United Methodist Church in Early, where she continued to be an active member throughout her life.
Nadine attended school at Delaware Township School in Nemaha, which she graduated from in 1941.
On October 7, 1944, Nadine was united in marriage to Philip H. Baker in San Diego, California. Together, they were blessed with three children: Christie, Cheri, and Jane.
In 1951, the family moved back to the farm outside of Early where Nadine had been raised. The couple relocated to Lake Pointe Villa in 1998, where she was the last original resident.
Nadine and Philip successfully operated a grocery store from 1961-1971. She was also an active member of the Early Women’s Club and various community activities.
Crewel embroidering, sewing, gardening, and reading where among Nadine’s talents and pastimes. She also enjoyed cooking and freezing vegetables. Most of all, Nadine cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Christie Anderson of Norwalk, Iowa; Cheri (Randy) Johnsen of Madrid, Iowa; Jane (Dennis) Ausborn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren: Major (Jill) Anderson of Brookings, South Dakota; Marshall (Kim) Anderson of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Erin Kron of Ocala, Florida; Nicholas (Brianne) Anderson of Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri; Eric (Lindsay) Johnsen of Ames, Iowa; Ryan (Julie) Johnsen of Slater, Iowa; Sara (Jordan) Kappos of Urbandale, Iowa; Daniela (Bret) Engelkes of Grandview, Missouri; Tony (Nicole) Ausborn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Jeska (Josh) Henderson of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; twenty-three great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip; great granddaughter, Sarah Rushing; son-in-law, J.R. Anderson; and brother, Donald Hicks.
