Joyce H. Jacobs, 82, of Brooksville, FL, and formerly Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., August 16, 2016. Joyce was born in Stafford, CT on August 31st, 1933, to Harold E. and Helena M. (Welsh) Hitchcock. She grew up in Brimfield, MA, and graduated from the Hitchcock Free Academy. On February 23, 1952, she married Santo L. Jacobs. She and her husband resided in Monson, MA, and owned and operated a gas/service station in Palmer, MA until they relocated to Homosassa, FL. Joyce was a dedicated volunteer at Hospice of Citrus County for several years after retiring and was recognized for her Outstanding Service in 2005. She was an avid NASCAR racing fan; she also enjoyed traveling both home and abroad with friends and relatives. Her final years were spent at Northbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Brooksville, FL.
Her survivors include three daughters, Joyce A., Diane M. and Mary Ellen, two brothers, Charles R. his wife Judy, and David F. and his significant other Charlotte Furey, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister-in-law, Marianne.
A Catholic prayer service and celebration of Joyce's life will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Fl with inurnment following at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fl. www.wilderfuneral.com
