Dennis Gregory, 65, passed from this life at his home in Guys Mills on August 22, 2016. Born in Meadville on February 1, 1951 to Robert Lee and Shirley Mae Bauer Gregory, Dennis grew up in Kirtland, Ohio. He then attended Conneaut Valley High School and graduated in 1969.

He worked for Harned Oil, O.D. Anderson, and managed his parents' restaurant Gregory's Lunch in Conneaut Lake. Ultimately, Dennis took a job working at Meadville Forging Company in the heat treat department. He would work at MFC for 35 years, progressing to estimator, head of engineering, and information systems manager prior to his retirement in 2013. In retirement he founded Snowhaven Enterprises and quickly expanded into crop farming.

In 1974, Dennis had a providential meeting with Shirley Diane Gandelot while snowmobiling. The couple was married on May 3, 1975. They lived modestly above his parents store in Conneaut Lake and proceeded to build- almost entirely by hand- the start to their home in Guys Mills. The snowmobile is still in their barn.
Dennis was blessed with four children, Holly Brewster (David), Dr. Julie Bilbrey (Benton), Sarah Slabaugh (Brian), and Tim Gregory (Ashley). They live, respectively, in North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, and at home in Guys Mills, Pennsylvania.

In all Dennis was blessed with ten grandchildren- Andrew, Elise, Ian, Owen, Emily, and Olivia Brewster; Benton and Avalie Bilbrey; Evelyn Gregory, and Ewan Slabaugh, who Grandpa will see from Heaven, being a few weeks too late to meet here.

Dennis dedicated himself to the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills, serving as an Elder for over 30 years, and at times as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, trustee, and actor in the Journey to Bethlehem productions. He and Shirley were instrumental in founding the Tiger Tails Reading program partnering with local schools to foster early reading skills.

He was a man completely fascinated by the times in which he lived. Dennis studied working steam engines as a boy, scratch built his own filtered swimming pool, drafted his parents' home plans, learned commercial refrigeration, built windmills, flew airplanes, was continually at the forefront of information systems and had a lifelong passion for everything automotive. He was always ready for Trivial Pursuit, a road trip across the country, or some frozen custard at Hanks.

Although quick to point out the many ways in which he was blessed, Dennis would tell you that he was most grateful for the love of his wife, Shirley, and the family they saw growing out of that love. His memory will live in us richly.

Calling Hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the United Evangelical Free Church, 11534 State Highway 198, Guys Mills, PA.
The funeral Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Dave Coddington officiating. The interment will be at Kiser Hill Cemetery.

Please consider making a memorial to the United Evangelical Free Church, P.O. Box 26, Guys Mills, PA 16327.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville where memories and condolences may be shared at www.waidfuneralhome.net.
