Louis A. Cunningham

A funeral service for Louis A. Cunningham, 79 of Toboso will be held Saturday August 27, 2016 in the Frazeysburg Chapel Vensil & Chute Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.

Mr. Cunningham died Monday August 22, 2016 at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, Columbus. He was born February 9, 1937 in Frazeysburg to the late Harold L. and Lillie (Middlemus) Cunningham.

He retired in 1997 as a custodian from Newark City Schools. He was also formerly associated with Roper Manufacturing. He had attended the Toboso United Methodist Church. He was a member of Hanover New Home Lodge F& AM for over 50 years and a former Shrine member. He enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle. The Smokey Mountains were his favorite destination. He also participated in several trail rides on his mule including the Lincoln Trail Ride. A pastime at home was watching western movies. His greatest joy was time with his grandchildren and family cookouts.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sara F. (Conner) Cunningham, whom he married on October 1, 1955; children Pamela Lepley & Cary Wilson of Toboso, Mary (Gary) Vance of Newark, David (Christine) Cunningham of Newark; eleven grandchildren, Andrea Smith, Susie Russell, Kevin Lepley, Sara Vance, Larry Vance, Tyler Cunningham, Jeremy Cunningham, Laura Cunningham, Shauna Robinson, Jessica Phillips, Kristie Agin; nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Cunningham, Jr., Gerald Cunningham, Forrest Cunningham.

Calling hours will be observed Friday, August, 26, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Frazeysburg Chapel VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 110 Third Street. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:45 p.m.
