Ervin was the son of John Julius Stoltz and Emma Louisa Wolke. Ervin's first wife was Ada Beatrice Demster (1904-1935). Ervin and Ada had two sons, Dennis Wayne and Wilmer Ray Stoltz. In 1930, Ervin, Ada, and their sons lived in Los Angeles County, California. Tragically, Ada was killed in an automobile accident in 1935 in Missouri.

In about 1954, Ervin married our grandmother, Nina Edith (Jones) DePreste. Ervin was a union plumber and they lived in Hayward, California during their marriage. Ervin loved to garden and was a very good cook. Sadly, he and grandma divorced in the mid 1960's and Ervin moved to Oregon. Grandma remained in California for a year or so, then moved back to Missouri. I don't know anything about their marital difficulties, but Ervin was very much loved and respected by everyone in our family and we have wonderful memories of him.

At his death, Ervin was brought back for burial at Moorehead Cemetery in Busnell, Barton County, Missouri.

The picture of Ervin in his garden was probably taken in the late 1950's or early 1960's in Hayward, Alameda County, California.
