The Journal News if July 13, 2011 recorded the passing of Mary Agnes Van Zilen on July 12th 2011. A mother of three children, she was a longtime resident of Tappan. Mary Agnes was born on August 27th 1933 to Amelia Havey (born of Irish descent to Mary and Thomas Havey) and George M. Lediger. Her paternal grandparents, of Bavarian descent, were Minnie Leitner and Joseph Lediger.

Mary had been a nurse at Northern Manor, formerly Elmwood Manor, in Nanuet. She belonged to the parish of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan. Mary's husband, Edwin, had died in 2005.

A Funeral Mass was held Friday, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Tappan. Visiting hours were at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan.
