Mabel Feren Thompson, age 94, died Friday, August 19, 2016 in Haywood House in Canton, NC.
Born February 2, 1922 in Chattanooga, TN. She was a native of Franklin, NC and was a former resident of Waynesville, NC.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, and was a very kind, caring, giving, humorous and loving person.
She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Franklin; she will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Boyd Thompson, Sr., and two daughters, Mabel Odette Buckner and Josephine Martin.
She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Ann Smith and her husband, Douglas of Waynesville, NC a son, William Boyd Thompson, Jr. of Asheville, NC; four grandchildren; fourteen great‑grandchildren, eight great‑great‑grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Keyth Eddings officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.
