Dora Jane Hatfield Jones/Wasserman/Cochran was born December 14, 1891.

MyHeritage Iowa Marriages shows Dora Hatfield (age 17) married Daniel Grant Jones (age 21) on April 15, 1908 in Sac City, Iowa, shows her birth year as 1891, parents: Fernandez and Mary.

Daniel was born July 4, 1887 in Blue Earttle, Minnesota to Henry Jones and Dorothy E. Morwitzen.

There is a 1910 census for Dora Jones (age 19) born circa 1891 in Iowa living in Pleasant Valley, Aurora, South Dakota with husband Daniel G. Jones (age 23) and daughter Daphne G. Jones (1 year 8 months) born in Iowa circa 1908.

The 1920 census shows Dora Jones (age 27) and Grant Jones (age 32) living in Emmet, Iowa with children: Gladys Jones (age 11), Etta Jones (age 8), Harold Jones (age 6) and Bernice Jones (age 2 years, 9 months). Their marriage ended in divorce. Daniel died June 25, 1972 in Cass County, Minnesota. Burial location unknown.

In a 1930 census there is a Dorthy Wasserman (Dora, age 38) living at 815 Jackson St. in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa with daughters Etta Jones (age 19), Bernice Jones (age 13) and Fern Jones (age 10). Value of home $45 and marital status divorced. Dorthy's occupation was dressmaker and Etta worked as a cook in a cafe.

Dora married a third time to Dexter Cochran. The 1930 census shows Dexter (age 42) living in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa with his brother Maxwell Cochran. It is most likely there that Dexter and Dora met.

The 1940 census dated April 6, 1940 shows Dexter (age 54) and Dorothy (Dora) (age 48) living at 2103 West 4th St., Sioux, Woodbury, Iowa. Harold Jones (age 27) and Fern Jones (age 19) also lived in the home. They are listed as step-children to head of household. Also in the household was a lodger named Ernest Guerks, this could be Ernest Iwerks who married Gladys. Dexter's occupation was traveling salesman for glass and paint, Harold worked as a display artist for a motor company and Fern was a waitress in a restaurant. Fern must have moved between family members in a matter of weeks. A 1940 census dated April 30th shows Fern Jones (age 19) living with her sister Etta Tucker (age 29) and her husband Bernard Tucker (age 31).

Dexter died July 4, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa. Dora died Monday, March 13, 1972 at 2:00 a.m. Funeral service was Wednesday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Children: Gladys Jones Iwerks (1909 to 1985), Etta Jones Tucker (1911 to 2000), Harold Jones (1913 to 1994), Bernice Jones (1917 to ?) and Fern Jones Smolk/Johnson (1920 to ?).

Dora passed away on her sister Della's birthday.

Mrs. Dexter E. Cochran
Funeral services for Mrs. Dexter E. Cochran, 80, 1515 W. First St., will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at the Nelson-Berger North-side Funeral Home. The Rev. A. Harold Sparks, pastor of Crescent Park United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dexter and Thomas Tucker, Gary Jones, Charles Tobey, Richard Holden and Charles Stevens. Mrs. Cochran died Monday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Cochran, the former Dorothy Hatfield, was born Dec. 14, 1891 in Sac County, Iowa. She lived in the Sac City area for several years before moving to Sioux City 50 years ago. Mr. Cochran died July 4, 1960, in Sioux City. Mrs. Cochran was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Harold of Sioux City; three daughters, Mrs. Etta Tucker of Sioux City; Mrs. Gladys Iwrks of Seattle, and Mrs. Fern Smolk of San Diego, Calif.; a brother Frank Hatfield of Omaha; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
