Pearl Gambill, daughter of John R. and Jane Gambill, was born at Naylor, Mo., January 14, 1904, and passed out of this life at the Newman Memorial hospital in Emporia, on Monday, July 21, 1930; aged 26 years, six months and seven days.

On July third, 1927, she was united in marriage with Henry Hughes at Caney, Kansas. They came to Madison in May, 1928, and this has since been their home.

Beside her husband, she leaves to mourn her untimely going the baby daughter only a few hours old, and an adopted daughter six years old; also a brother and sister at Caney, Kansas, beside many other relatives and friends.

She united with the Methodist Episcopal church when a child and has tried to live a consistent Christian life.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church, Rev. E.H. Knepp conducting the services. Interment was made in No. 8 cemetery.
