S.F. Deetz died in St. Mary's hospital Sunday night at 11 o'clock Sunday night of heart trouble. He had been seriously ill for only a few days, going to the hospital Friday. At that time, there was no thought of his early death. He became seriously ill about 2:30 Sunday morning.
Frank Deetz was a member of the H.S. Gebhart company for 13 years. He was secretary of the company and manager of the wall paper department at the time of his death. Before he became a member of this firm, he was employed by Linn & Scruggs Co. Through his position in the store he became acquainted with surrounding territory. He was a member of Macon lodge #8 and other Masonic organizations of the city.
Mr. Deetz was born in Decatur 43 years ago and had passed all his life here. He recently had completed a new home on Cobb avenue and was to have occupied it Tuesday of this week.
"Frank Deetz has been my right hand man" said H.S. Gebhart Sunday night. "His loss will be a great one, both personally and in a business way. He had been my partner from the beginning and his place cannot be filled."
Beside his widow, who was Beulah Robinson, with whom he united in marriage 18 years ago, he leaves one son, Donald, nine year old; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Deetz, 905 West Main street; brothers, Guy Deetz of Scranton, Pa., Edward and Chauncey of Decatur; sisters, Mr. E.L. Ward and Bertha Deetz of Decatur, Mrs. S.A.Covington of Ft. Worth, Tx.
