Richard “Dick” Benjamin Falls, 73 of Newport, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Carteret House of Newport.

A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday August 24th at Munden Funeral Home of Morehead City, with Reverend Tom Supplee officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. Following the graveside service everyone is invited to the Newport Moose Lodge, 456 Roberts Road in Newport for refreshments and fellowship.

Dick honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps and retired after over 20 years of service. He was a Vietnam veteran and served as a flight engineer, which afforded him the opportunity to travel the world. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8986 of Newport. Dick was also a Past Governor of the Newport Moose Lodge #2194, and holds the Fellowship Degree of Honor.

He is survived by his wife Shelley Falls of the home; daughters, Denise Falls Perri and husband Frank and Debra Falls Burns both of Newport; sons, David E. Falls and wife Christine of Newport, Douglas Falls of Newport and Daniel Falls and wife Sarah of Gun Barrel City, TX; sisters, Evelyn Falls Fitzsimmons and husband Jim of South Williamsport, PA and Cecelia Falls Blackwell and husband Gary of Lockhaven, PA.; grandchildren, Jeremy Burns of NJ, Cheryl Preim and husband Kurt of Wilson, NC, Kayla Wood of Wilmington, NC, Emma Mae Falls and Sophia Falls of Newport; two great-grandchildren, Alannah Burns of Wilson and Nolan Ramsamooj of Wilmington, and several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Helen Falls, his wife of 33 years Donna Mae Brion Falls, infant daughter, Darlene Louise Falls, and infant granddaughter Ashley Renee Burke.

A visitation for Dick will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd at Munden Funeral Home from 6 – 8 PM.
