Gary Lee Dotson, 76, died Sunday, August 21 at the John F. Keever Solace Center, after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Gary was born March 1, 1940 and was the son of the late Henry and Alma Kirstein Dotson of Fairview, NC.
He was a proud veteran having served four years in the Marine Corps. He was the owner of Dotson Metal Finishing in Asheville, NC and then was employed 14 years at MB Industries in Rosman, NC.
Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Murmillo Dotson; son, Brett (Michelle) of Clermont, France; daughter, Wendi Dotson McCrain (Jeff) of Hendersonville; loved and in love with seven grandsons; Hunter Bailey, Graysen, Raleigh, Campbell and Sawyer Dotson and Connor and Kendall McCrain; brothers, Cliff, Mac and Carroll Dotson of Fairview, NC.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:30 am in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Steve Scoggins officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home followed by burial at the State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at 2:00 pm.
