Robert Edward Devlin age 92 of Naples, Fla, died on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at his home in Naples after a prolonged illness of cancer.Devlin
He was born on Sept. 9, 1923 in Davenport, Iowa, son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Phillips) Devlin. He was a graduate of St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport, Iowa with the class of 1942.
Robert served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II from Nov. 22, 1943 until Feb. 9, 1946. He attended Michigan State University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting in 1949 and his teaching certificate in 1950.
In 1942 he married Marjorie Dohan and was married to her for 41 years until her death in 1983. He then married his devoted wife of 32 years, Marlene (Dahlke) Kott on Jan. 4, 1984 in Traverse City.
He became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Michigan in 1958 and in the State of Florida in 1990. In the State of Florida he was also licensed in 1990 as a Community Association Manager and his Real Estate Broker License in 1991.
Locally he practiced as a public accountant with Lincoln, Devlin & Kalcher, in Traverse City and Manistee from 1954 to 1985 and at present he was a consultant and chief financial officer, Heart Fax, Inc. in Naples, Fla. since 1991.
He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Naples Area Board of Realtors and the Michigan Accountancy Foundation (Trustee).
Robert is survived by his wife, Marlene Devlin of Naples, Fla., four daughters and three sons in-law, Shannon and Bruce Oliver, Bridgett and Jack Williams, Meigan and Coby Dodzie and Ann Devlin and by four grandchildren, Lucas Sawyer, Cameron Oliver, Nana Dadzie and Anna Dadzie, three step-sons Rick (Sara) Linke, Larry Linke and Gary Kott and by seven step-grandchildren, Mike (Jessica) Linke, Jackie Linke, Colin Linke, Joe Linke, Kayla Linke, Kaitlyn Kott, and Tammara Kane,. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Bob was preceded in death by two infant sons, three brothers and two sisters.
According to Bob’s wishes cremation has taken place and private family graveside services took place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee.
