Sally Cramblit Foster peacefully passed in May 2016. She was born July 1926 in Monrovia, California. Her parents were William and Miggie Cramblit. Sally lived in California for one year after which she moved to her parent's home town of Ottumwa, Iowa where she was raised with her four siblings.

She was a member of the Ottumwa High School class of 1944. Sally was Pi Beta Phi at the University of Iowa from which she graduated in 1948.

Sally was on summer break and standing on the edge of the pool at the Ottumwa Country Club when an attractive, funny young man swam up and was smitten by "those gams". Once introduced, Whitney Foster fell in love with Sally's intelligence, integrity, wit and charm. They became best friends and were married at the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa on June 20, 1948. Little did they know their future would hold sixty-four years of wedded bliss, four children, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Sally's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Sally worked at the University of Iowa medical lab where she helped develop the first flu vaccine while Whitney was finishing up his law degree. In 1958 Whitney's work with the family business (John Morrell and Company) brought the family to the San Francisco bay area, and in 1959 they settled in Piedmont, California.

The family moved to Modesto in 1966, where Sally lived for the next fifty years. She worked at the California State Employment Development Department.

She was a Director of the USGA junior girls' championship. Sally was Director of the Bumgardner Memorial junior golf tournament at Del Rio CC for ten years. She was very active in their church and the PTA. Sally loved playing golf and bridge and enjoyed doing needlepoint projects. Most of all Sally was devoted to her family who always came first.

Sally is survived by her children, Michael Foster (Charlene), Bonnie Foster Flynn (Mike), Tom Foster (Kathleen), Diane Foster McCumber; her grandchildren, Adam (Kate), Matt (Emily) and Morgan Foster, Kaitlyn Flynn, Michael (Nicole) and Sarah Foster, Whitney and Wesley (Priscilla) McCumber; and her great grandchildren, Emma and Jane Foster, Gus Foster, Sayler McCumber and Bradley and Benjamin McCumber; and her brother, Lue Cramblit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney, both parents, brothers, William and David Cramblit, sister, Joan Dunne and granddaughter, Mollie Flynn.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1528 Oakdale Road, Modesto, California 95355.
