Irene M. Reed, age 90, a long-time resident of Boone, IA, died on August 18, 2016 at Springfield, Missouri of respiratory failure. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Glendale Baptist Church, Springfield, MO.
Irene was born December 10, 1925 in Glidden, Iowa to Charlie Edward and Lora Marie Dobson.
Irene married John William Jones of Boone, May 27, 1949. John was an airplane and helicopter mechanic for the Iowa National Guard for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He died July 7, 1985. Irene married Stanley Scott Reed January 10, 1988. Stan died January 7, 2016.
She is survived by two daughters, her son; stepson,
daughter-in-law; brother; 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, CSM John W. Jones,and her second husband Stanley Scott Reed; her parents, Charlie and Lora Dobson; brothers Carl and Floyd Dobson; sister, Florence Ure; stepson, Dennis Reed;
and step-granddaughter, Michelle Vigus.
Irene was a homemaker and active member of her church and
community. She was president of the Fifth District Auxiliary and Parliamentarian of the State Auxiliary of the Enlisted Association of the Iowa National Guard. She was awarded a Certificate for Meritorious Service in support of John's service in the National Guard May 28,1975 and on October 12, 1999 was given an honorary membership in
the Iowa Sergeants Major Association of the Iowa National Guard for her support of that group.
Memorials may be given to Marion Street United Methodist Church in Boone, Iowa.
