Dudley Adams, 78 years of age, died this morning after slashing his throat with a pocketknife.

The victim had been visiting with his son, Paul Adams, one-and-a-half miles north of the Pottsville section, and it was there that he committed suicide. The suicide verdict was returned by Coroner Brown McClain after he had conducted investigation of the death.

Adams died about 11:30 o'clock, more that an hour after he was found with his throat slashed near an outhouse in the yard of his son's farm home.

His daughter-in-law, Mrs. Paul Adams, told Coroner McClain that she was washing some clothes in the house this morning when her father-in-law came through the room with his shirt unbuttoned. "You must be hot," Mrs. Adams claimed she said to him. "No, I've got a lot of troubles," he replied as he walked out of the house, Mrs. Adams told the coroner.

After he had gone out, Mrs. Adams said her son came in the room and told her that his grandfather had a razor. She followed him out of the dwelling and found him near an outhouse with the razor to his throat. According to evidence supplied Coroner McClain, Mrs. Adams took the razor away from her father-in-law, and accompanied him back in the house.

About twenty minutes later, the elderly man left the house again, and when his absence was noted he was found lying on the ground outside, his throat slashed with a small pocketknife.
