Marty Howard Sanders, 58, of Midland, passed away on August 20, 2016.

The family will be accepting friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Marty was born on December 21, 1957, in Midland, Texas to Marvin E. and Helen Sanders.

He graduated from Midland High School in 1976.

After graduation he worked for a short time at the Midland County Sherriff’s Office as a dispatcher.

Marty attended Midland First Church of the Nazarene, Latter Rain Worship Center in Odessa, Jesus Way Church in Midland, and Parker Heights Christian Church in Odessa.

Marty had a strong faith, a big smile, and a laugh that was contagious. Many people remarked that they loved to hear Marty laugh because he laughed with all of his heart.

He was an avid reader and loved to study military history and the Bible.

He loved Jesus and he loved his family.

The last few years of his life had him at home taking care of his elderly parents as they recovered from hip injuries.

Marty was a servant, a giver, a compassionate listener, and friend.

He passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

He will be missed by family and friends. He is at home in Heaven with Jesus!

He is survived by his parents, Marvin and Helen Sanders; one brother, Mike and Marlene Sanders, all of Midland.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Gili and Maribel Lopez and sons, who are like family to the Sanders’; also, to Pastor Mark Bristow, Pastor Jerry Murphy, Pastor Craig DeArmond, and Ray and Wilma Brown, and the doctors and nursing staff at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Williams, Gili Lopez, Christian Lopez, Michael Lopez, James Elliott, and Ray Brown.
