Gladys M. Coleman, 98, of Belvidere died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1914 in Kingston, daughter of Charles and Lura (Brainard) Leonard.
Gladys worked for many companies, finishing with Champion Packaging Co. before retiring. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries.
Gladys is survived by daughter, Shirley (Donald) Karr of Belvidere; two grandchildren, Donald R. and Timothy (Anne) Karr; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Mason Greer; two sisters, Ida Belle Di Mario and Geraldine Ambler; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Leonard.
She is predeceased by parents; infant grandchild, Christopher Karr; sister, Myrtle Schult; two brothers, Rollin and Warren Leonard; and sister-in-law, Arlene Leonard.
Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., with the Rev. Eugene Wille officiating. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial in Highland Garden of Memories.
