She was born January 2, 1923 to the late Lallah Ruth Loy Lemons and Sidney Henry Lemons. Bertha grew up in the Brown Summit area. She went to work in textiles for Cone Mills’ Revolution Plant and Blue Bell (Wrangler), retiring as a buyer for Kaley’s Lady’s Dress Shop. She was a long time member of Rolling Road Church of The Nazarene. She was active in the Church’s Sunday School and caregiver activities. She was a stern overprotective mother who was 100% devoted to the care of her home and children. Never a siren sounded that she didn’t need to know the whereabouts of her brood. Visitors always found her home clean and organized. She was an avid Canasta player and enjoyed the game of Aggravation. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend.
In addition to her parents to she was also proceeded in death by her husband of 41 years Herbert Thomas Wright; daughter Nancy Jean Wright Paschal and husband Larry; sons Ronald T. Wright, Richard A. Wright, and Samuel J. Wright; sisters Grace Hilliard, Pearl Powell, Virginia Grasty, and Frances Lemons; and brothers Herbert Lemons, Sidney Lemons, Ronald Lemons, and Russell Lemons.
Survivors include daughter Patricia Wright Settlemyre Sheppard-Cunningham and Bill Of Kernersville; sisters Rebecca Graham of Greensboro and Nancy Warrick of Sebastian, FL; brother Ed Lemons of Greensboro; daughter-in-law’s Dora Wright of Woodstock, Ga., Toni Wright of Greensboro, NC, and Elaine Wright of Sunset Beach, NC; 8 grandchildren; sister-in-law’s Betty T. Lemons of Greensboro and Martha Lemons of Greensboro; longtime special friend Mae Blackwell of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and many other friends and extended family.
The Family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehab for their tender loving care of Bertha over the last 5 years, as well as the nurses and doctors of 6 East at Cone Hospital.
