Levis Wesley Carter, 81, of Big Point, MS passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016. He was born in Big Point, MS to the late Levis P. Carter and Eunice Carter Brown on September 22, 1934. Levis was a member of Big Point United Methodist Church and retired from International Paper Co. after 42 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved his grandchildren and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, Levis was preceded in death by his sister, Hilda Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Georgia “Honey” Carter; sons, Glen (Stephanie) Carter and Paul (Melissa) Carter; daughter, Linda (Carlos) Prieto; grandchildren, Matthew Carter, Brent Carter, Andrew Carter, Kayla Prieto, Adrian Carter, and Alex Prieto; brother, Manuel Carter; sister, Judy (Andy) Payne; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Big Point United Methodist Church beginning at 12 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Goff officiating. Interment will follow at Big Point Cemetery in Big Point, MS.

Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Carter, Brent Carter, Andrew Carter, Levis Carter, David Childers, Warren Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be Adrian Carter, Billy Fulton, and Alex Prieto.

Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
