Mr. and Mrs. Harry Whitney and daughter, Eula, met with a sad and fatal accident, Thursday evening about 8:15. They were crossing the railroad track "just south of town when their car was struck by a south bound freight. They were thrown from the car, Mrs. Whitney's neck was broken, and the little girl seemed at first to be seriously injured, but hope is entertained now for her recovery. Mr. . Whitney was badly bruised but not seriously hurt. Mrs. Whitney only lived about an hour after the accident occurred. Mrs. Whitney's funeral was held Sunday at 3 o'clock from the Presbyterian church at Hillsdale, Kan, and burial in Hillsdale cemetery. , Mrs. Whitney was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Hittle, living southwest of Spring Hill.

Mrs. Homer Gruver, of Pomona, Kansas, came Saturday, morning to attend the funeral of her cousin, Mrs. Harvey Whitney Sunday afternoon, at Hillsdale.
