Randolph LaVaughn "Randy" Wright

1945-2016

Randolph LaVaughn "Randy" Wright passed away peacefully on July 10, 2016 in Pensacola Florida at the age of 71, after a brief illness.

Randy was born on May 15, 1945 in the Pidgeon Bay community of Summerville, S.C. to the late George and Alethia Wright. He graduated from Alston High School in 1963 and enlisted in the US Navy in 1964. He served 24 years in the Navy, beginning his naval career as a Boatswain's Mate and later promoted to Master at Arms. He retired with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer after 24 years of service. Randy also served as a Correctional Officer for 13 years and as a Civil Process Server for 6 years.

In August of 1979, Randy met and married "the Love of his life", Virginia Wilson McClung. The two were inseparable until her passing in August of 2008. Randy had been missing his "Ginny" since she departed, and now they are together again. He is also preceded in death by two brothers: The late George Melvin Wright, Jr. and Bernard Henry Wright, both of Summerville, SC.

Randy was a kind and generous person who was greatly admired and loved by his family and friends. He loved his family and has traveled thousands of miles to spend time with them; especially those nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

To cherish his loving memory, he is survived by: 1 daughter, Ms. Recbecca Gay, granddaughter, Mrs. Savannah Powers; 3 sisters: Ms. Elaine Bratcher, of Ridgeland, SC; Ms. Helen Jefferson of Bronx, NY; Ms. Thomasena Wright of Summerville, SC; 1 brother, Mr. Alphonso (Florette) Wright; Sister in-law, Mrs. Annabelle Wright of Summerville, SC; a very special friend, Ms. Karen Lucas of Pensacola, Florida; loving nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memories

We thought of you with love today- but that is nothing new;

We thought about you yesterday, and the days before that too.

We think of you in silence- we often speak your name,

Now all we have is memory, and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part;

God has you in His keeping, and we have you in our hearts.

-Sadly missed by the family-

A memorial is scheduled for 10:00 am on August 25th, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home in Pensacola, Florida. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Randy's life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to American Cancer Society .
