Had Been Member of Spokane Police Force for Fourteen Years

ILL FOR A LONG TIME

Held Acting Sergeantey When Failing Health Caused Retirement Two Years Ago

William Dial, a member of the Spokane police department for 14 years until he retired two years ago owing to ill health, died at 7:20 o'clock last night at his home, W 113 Indiana avenue, after a long illness.

Mr. Dial served some time as a detective and as acting sergeant until forced by ill health to resign the later position. For several years prior to his retirement he had charge of pawnshop inspections.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edith Dial, a daughter, Mrs. Buhlia Kaier of Spokane, a daughter, Mrs. Rubia Adair, Spokane, and a son, Ralph Dial, engaged in business in Portland. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Ella Anson, and a brother, both residing in LaGrand, Ore.

The body is at the Turnbull rooms.
