Antonio. Col. Krauska was born in St. Louis. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1937, earned a law degree at St. Louis University and was admitted to the bar in 1942. He joined the Army that year and was transferred to the Army Air Corps, where he was commissioned a second lieutenant bombardier in 1943. He flew 40 combat missions in the Southwest Pacific with the 42nd Bomb Squadron. In 1945, Col. Krauska entered private law practice. He served as assistant prosecuting attorney of St. Louis from 1947 to 1951, when he was recalled to active duty. He decided to make a career of the Air Force and worked in the judge advocate's office while living with his family on bases in the U.S., Japan and Germany. After retiring at Kelly Air Force Base in 1972, Col. Krauska worked with the law firm of Groce, Locke & Hebdon in San Antonio. He founded the Air Force Retired Judge Advocates Association and served as president for 10 years. His wife of 48 years, Marian Coffman Krauska, died in 1993. In 1998, Col. Krauska married Thea Ralston.
In addition to his wife, among the survivors are four sons, Thomas Krauska Jr. of Crestwood, Mark Krauska of Redding, Calif., Andy Krauska of Hallandale Beach, Fla., and Tony Krauska of Mesquite, Texas; three daughters, Mary Kay Sexton of Austin, Texas, Anne Faryniarz of San Antonio and Peggy Kaiser of Bear, Del.; a sister, Elizabeth Aurin of south St. Louis; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
