Mrs. Anita L. Webster Baker, 77, resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, August 19 at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 4 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Frances Orr officiating. An entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-4 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Born August 8, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas “Tommy” Webster, Sr. and Georgia Smith Webster. She was married to the late Moses Baker, who passed away in 2002. She graduated from Clark Training School in Mt. Pleasant where she ran track, was a cheerleader and a majorette in the band. She was a beautician and did housekeeping. Her hobbies included crafting, crocheting, dancing and cooking. She loved to travel, especially going to Tunica.

Mrs. Anita is survived by her step-daughter: Yolanda Baker of Jackson, Miss.; brother: Ollie (Barbara) Webster of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren; her beloved pet: Bella; sisters-in- law: Jean Webster of Louisville, and Carrie Jones of Columbia; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend: Bernice Smith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Wilmar Webster and William Thomas “Bunny’ Webster, Jr.; sister: Evelyn “Sister” Webster.
