Rites For Floyd C. Eckerty Held at Longview Sunday

Longview, May 21 - Floyd C. Eckerty, 62, Longview, died at 6:30 p. m. Friday at the Urbana hospital, where he had been a patient for six days. He had been ill for two years.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday, at the Evangelical United Brethren church with Rev. Victor W. Gross officiating.

M. A. Buddemeier sang "Beyond the Sunset," "Rock of Ages," "End of a Perfect Day."

Pallbearers were Orris Denbo, Chas. DeWitt, Virgil, Harold, Ernest and Earl Eckerty.

Burial was in Fairfield cemetery with Dicks Bros. in charge.

Mr. Eckerty was born May 29, 1887, a son of Frederick and Sarah Dickie Eckerty of Wickliffe, Ind., and spent the majority of his life in Edgar and Douglas counties. He was married in 1906 to Bessie Elizabeth Carroll, who died in 1936. They were the parents of four sons and two daughters. In 1947 he married Nanney Betts of Longview.

Surviving are his wife and six children, Kenneth, of Chicago; Duane, Urbana; Howard, Champaign; Frank, Brocton; Mrs. Faye Warnes, Newman, and Dorothy Mae, Urbana. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Phoebe Mavity, Longview.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Clifford, Charles, Ollie, Jake and John, and one sister, Emma Eagler.
