Greg grew up with his brothers and sisters in the Del Paso Heights area of Sacramento, California. There he met and married Loretta Cross. Greg and Loretta had one son Gregory Patterson, Jr. on July 30, 1982.
Greg was tall, handsome and big hearted. He was always the loudest guy in the room and could tell stories that would come to life. He was a talented artist when it came to drawing portraits and had a passion for cars and could fix anything.
He is survived by his son Greg Jr. (Christina Kalaveras), stepson Tyronen Thigpen and Nathan Melendez ( Angela), Grandsons Devon, Nigel and Josiah, step- grandkids Erys, Taliesha, Sierra, Tyrone Jr, Savion, and Julian. Sister Ceatta Weaver, Brother Anthony Patterson, Companion Cynthia Johnson and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Frances and Father David, sister Beverly and Brother Charles.
From Greg Jr.
I am who I am because of him. He's the reason for my name. He gave me my courage and my strength to stand tall even when standing wasn't easy; to stand for one's who can't, to think and defend for my self... I am my Dad made over. How to keep my emotions in check, how to handle large amounts of pain, when in trouble he always had my back. He knew how my mind worked better than anyone. I got it from him...I am my Dad made over. Even though he is gone, I'll stand and continue on even if I stumble. I may fall, may even get hurt along the way, but I will pick myself back up and dust myself off and stand tall. I'm honored and proud to say...I am my Dad made over.
