US Congressman. His family moved to Onondaga County in 1793 and were among the first white settlers in Skaneateles. Earll attended local schools, studied law and became an attorney in the town of Salina (now part of Syracuse). He served in the War of 1812, then resumed the practice of law at Onondaga Hill. He was appointed postmaster in 1816 and was Justice of the Peace from 1816 to 1820. Earll also held the judicial position Master in Chancery, and served as Onondaga County Judge from 1823 to 1831, when he relocated to Syracuse to accept the position of Superintendent of the state's salt works at Onondaga Salt Springs, where he worked until 1836. In 1837 and 1838 Earll resided in Jordan and helped manage his family's mills, farms and distillery. He returned to Syracuse in 1838 and was elected to the US House as a Democrat. Earll served one term, 1839 to 1841, and was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1840. After losing this race Earll retired to his Syracuse home and gradually became completely blind. He was the cousin of Jonas Earll, Jr., who also served in Congress.
