A Funeral Service for Robert will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Davenport. Pastor Rick Eldred will officiate the service.

A graveside service will be held in the Davenport Cemetery following the funeral.

Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.

Memorials are directed to the Nebraska Youth Camp, 65 Sweetwater Ave, Kearney, NE 68847 or to the Donor's choice.

Robert Edison Sanner, age 91 years,1 month, and 12 days, of York, NE, passed away August 19, 2016 in Shickley, NE at the home of his daughter, Karen Biegert. Karen was his loving caregiver for the past 2 years. Robert was born July 7, 1925, in Davenport, NE to Delbert and Lillian Sanner. Robert graduated from Davenport High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Lorna Mae Grone on May 27, 1944.

During WWII, Robert worked at the army ammunitions depot in Hastings. He was a farmer, and they lived near these Nebraska towns: Plymouth, Diller, Steele City, Davenport and York. In Davenport, he also worked winters at Saum’s meat locker, as a butcher. After retiring from farming, he worked at Power Service Inc. in York.

Robert was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved the Lord and his Word.

Robert (Bob) enjoyed gardening, and playing cards. He liked popcorn, polkas and pepsi. Bob also enjoyed puttering around in his workshop. He made many wooden items for his family, quilt racks, playing card stands, plant stands, yard decorations, game boards, etc. Bob and Lorna Mae enjoyed many years of being “snowbirds” to South Padre Island, TX, where Bob liked fishing, beach walking and shelling. They had a whole other church family there that they dearly loved. While in York, they were active members of the Sunshiners group at church.

Robert is survived by five children Dixie Busch, Humble, TX; Bob (Diane) Sanner, Grand Island, NE; Kathy (Jim) Anderson, Brentwood, TN; Karen (Rex) Biegert, Shickley, NE; and Patricia (Terry) Quigley, Lubbock, TX.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren: Laura (Chuck) Morris, Savannah, MO; Donna (Jason) Embray, St. Joseph, MO; Kevin Busch, Naperville, IL, Jason (Holly) Busch, Spring, TX; Janda (Steve) McDaniel, Brentwood, TN; Sarah Jo (Sam) Brinson, Franklin, TN; Kasey (Ryan) Woods, Brentwood, TN; Corey Sanner, York, NE; Carrie (Cory) Smith, Elkhorn, NE; Deric (Erin) Lichty, Atlantic Beach, FL; Michael Biegert, Shickley, NE; Nicholas (Brittany) Quigley, Dothan, AL; Andrea and Landon Quigley, Lubbock, TX.

Also surviving are 21 great-grandchildren: Conrad and Caden Morris, Eli Embray; Eliana Busch; Sierra, Dylan, Madison and Noah Busch; Caitlyn, Annaleise, Jacob and Ethan Sanner; Preston and Jenna Smith; Caleb, Carson, and Kelci McDaniel; Savannah, Scarlett and Sawyer Brinson; and Wyatt and Gradin Lichty.

Also surviving are 2 siblings: Harry (Nelda) Sanner, Davenport, NE and Marilyn (Larry) Keim, Davenport, NE as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lorna Mae; his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and (Billie Jo) Culbertson, and brother, Dean Sanner.
