Early resident dies in Everett
Mrs. John P. Anderson, one of Stanwood's pioneer residents, passed away June 17 at an Everett hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Anderson, who had been in poor health for many years, kept her residence at the long-time family home near Florence until she became a guest at an Everett nursing home.
Born December 26, 1876, in Minneapolis, she came to Stanwood in 1888 at the age of 12 years. On February 11, 1903 she became the bride of John P. Anderson, who had joined the gold rush to Alaska. Upon his return, he became interested in various properties here, including the family farm at Florence where the couple made their home, until Mr. Anderson's death in 1938.
Surviving are three sons - Alfred and Orval of Seattle and Carsten of Ogden, Utah. There are also four grandchildren. Services were held June 20 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Pastor Anton Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Tiffany's Gunderson Funeral Home.
Casketbearers were Clyde Gill, Darrol Dilley, Frank McDougall, Leland Grissom, Ben Moe and Wilbur Floe.
