Mildred Ann (Larsen) Harmon
July 20, 1915 - August 14, 2016

Mildred L. Harmon (July 20, 1915 – August 14, 2016) reached the end of her long and joyous life on Sunday, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was 101 years old.

Born Mildred Ann Larsen in St. Augustine, Florida she was the first child of Robert and Ethyl (Craig) Larsen.

She met the love of her life, Lamar Harmon at a high school dance and they married soon after her graduation.

Mildred worked and modeled for Marineland and the Fountain of Youth before she and Lamar moved to Palm Beach in 1944.

In 1945 Lamar became the manager of the Everglades Club in Palm Beach where he remained, eventually as executive director for the next 23 years.

Lamar went on to found the Beach Club, also in Palm Beach, where he served as their first President from 1969 until his retirement in 1974, always with Mildred as his devoted partner.

During this time he and Mildred were active in the Palm Beach social scene where they loved to dance and to entertain.

Mildred lost her sweetheart Lamar in 1996, but was blessed by the birth of her first grandson, Steven six years later.

Family has been the constant center of her life.

Mildred has always been known and loved for her sparkling smile, her sincere warmth and her generosity of spirit. She enjoyed faithfully devoting time and support to Unity of the Palm Beaches where she and Lamar were founding members of the Lakeside church.

Mildred served on the Guild of St. Mary's Hospital. She was an avid gardener and a proud 60 year member of the West Palm Beach Garden Club.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her son and daughter-in-law Lamar and Rhonda Harmon, grandsons Steven Harmon and Daniel Boman, sister Jeri Capella of St. Augustine, niece Pam High of Rhode Island and nephew Rick High and their families as well as caregivers Julia Torres and Krista Kupec.

She was predeceased by her dear sister Mardelle Gilchrist and her brother Buddy Larsen.

Her visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday, August 19 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Ave., WBP with services at 5:00 PM and a reception following.

Her burial will be at 10 AM on Saturday, August 20 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in WBP.
